Happy Thanksgiving 2010

Well, my evil plan for this year was to fly on Thanksgiving since I would get paid time and a half, then finish up by the afternoon and then be able to enjoy Thanksgiving with the family.  Well, all the other greedy FO’s out there had the same idea and I couldn’t even manage to get a trip.  I had the whole day to enjoy with the family.  So we ended up having a feast all on our own.  Heather cooked up a storm and the girls had fun helping get everything together.  Madison had to make the table all pretty and fashionable while Gabs tried to hold herself back from the rolls.  Drake just wanted to play with trucks.  All in all, the day was a complete success.  After our feast, we all piled in the car and went to Red Rock to watch “Tangled” at the movies.  Drake even enjoyed it.  We even had enough time afterward to get down all our Christmas decorations.  We put a lot up and then finished the job the day after.  I love looking at all the lights at night.

Madison's Jello

Every once in a while, Madison gets a wild silly streak going and just can’t help where it takes her.  Her latest was putting jello on her forehead and seeing how long it would stick...

I forgot how little babies are...

We had a lot of fun in Utah these past few days.  It was certainly a highlight to be able to spend time with baby Wes.  Heather was amazed at how much the girls wanted to spend time with him as well.  They all wanted to hold him and cuddle him.  He is such a sweet and mild baby.  It is such a miracle to appreciate how baby Wes came into the Evans family.  He and Drake will be best friends.

Little Monkeys

So we were all at Eric and Tasha’s house killing some time before we were going to go to Layton Surf ‘N Swim for some fun.  Their house has a big ledge built in for decorations and the like above their TV and coat closet.  Well, of course Gabrielle had the bright idea of getting up there somehow.  Eric didn’t help when he joked that she could have everything in his savings account if she got up there.  Well, the next thing you knew and with a little help from Madison, she was perched proudly at the top.  It didn’t take long for things to expand.  Here is a shot of Gabrielle, Madison, Drake and Tyson (Tasha’s adopted brother) all posing at the top of the mountain.

Mom, can I have one???

Uncle Steve and Aunt Kristy came over with their new puppies.  It was funny that they named two of them “Boots” and “Bear” because those are both nicknames for Drake.  Needless to say, the girls fell in love with them.  We told them to get their fill with them while they could because we weren’t taking one home.  I got a small glimpse of what it must be like to be a grandparent.  Play with cute little puppies and have lots of fun with them.  Spoil them with love and affection.  Then give them back

Seriously Funny Stuff

OK, so if you want a good laugh, you need to look at this homework assignment that Gabrielle filled out a little while ago.  Look closely at the picture.  The question asks: Which word is spelled correctly?  Gabrielle circled the correct answer but had to clarify that one of the other words is also correct “in texting world”.  We had a good laugh over that one.

Tender Mercies...

Here is a picture of Drake’s new best friend.  As many of you know, our sister-in-law (Tasha) recently lost her second baby due to complications from anencephaly.  It was a heartbreaking experience for everyone.  Well, during the pregnancy, Tasha met another pregnant teen who was due around the same time as Tasha.  I don’t know a lot of the details, but in a nutshell, this girl had decided to give her baby up for adoption.  After meeting Tasha and Eric and understanding their circumstances, she ultimately decided to give her baby to them.   It was so sad to go to their second funeral, yet such a joyous occasion to see baby Wesley in Tasha’s arms in this picture.  We can’t wait to see him in person.

JUMP!!!

Part of our daily routine is going out back to play.  Drake absolutely loves to play outside.  He will take me by the finger and literally pull it out of its socket if he needs to in order to drag my lazy but out the door to play.  As soon as he has passed the barrier of the door, he will often let go and make a dash for what he wants to do the most.  Often, it is the trampoline.  He can’t get up by himself so he will run over to the stool and say “UP” and grunt and cry until I hurry it on over to help him up.  Once I put him through the net, he will bounce like crazy for a few seconds, then turn around and come to beacon me on the trampoline with him.  He used to only last a few minutes on the tramp before he would want to go and so something else.  Lately, however, he has been content to spend all kinds of time on the trampoline playing game after game and jumping in all kinds of different combinations.  Anything from me holding him, him by himself, holding hands, bucking bronco, rocket boost, crack the egg, you name it.  Madison got a hold of the camera and had some fun taking some pics.  If you go to the misc pics page you will see some additional trampoline pics.  Enjoy...
