Goodbye Crib

Well, yesterday was a monumental day.  Drake finally decided he had had enough of his crib.  He could have climbed out long before now if he wanted to or if we showed him how.  Today he figured it out on his own.  Heather tried to put him down for his nap and the next thing I knew he was running down the hall.  I put his bedroom set together the same day and took down his crib.  It was a bitter-sweet moment for me.  I will probably put it on craigslist tomorrow.  That is the crib that Madison hated so bad that she would stand in the corner and cry until her little legs would wobble and give out from under her and she would sleep sitting up with her head slumped in the corner.  That is the crib that Gabs used, and finally Drake.  Our kids are growing up, whether we want them to or not.

Celebrity Lookalikes

So my grandfather was inspired to find a lookalike for everyone on my mom’s side of the family... So I decided to take on the challenge of editing the photos to put them side by side and make a slideshow of my work. I hope you enjoy (:

What a Blast!!!

Utah got dumped on for the past few days.  A lot of the resorts closed or are in the process, but Park City decided to extend the season by a week.  We decided to yank Gabs out of school for the day since I am such a responsible parent and want my children to receive a WELL ROUNDED education (I wanted to bring Madison but she said she had too many important things she would miss).  We took the flight up that got us on the slopes by noon.  That gave us four hours of FUN!!!  Gabs is a solid blue skier now.  She is learning how to parallel and not rely so much on the snowplow.  I made the mistake of taking her down a black diamond, thinking it led to a different trail.  She did ok and did a bunch of sliding down on the rump until we could get to a better section of the mountain.  She officially is the first in the family to go down the black, though.  Another fun part of the trip was the weather.  When you rode the lift up to the top, about halfway up you entered a cloud layer.  It was fun to deeply breathe in the moisture when you went from clear to cloud.  I can’t wait until my little man is old enough to join in the fun!!

The next racing champion. Jeff Gordon has met his match.

This kid is amazing.  He picked up the whole driving thing in a matter of minutes, including reverse.  His girlfriend Emma from up the street drives a Mustang that is set for the fast speed.  Drake has no problem with the faster speed (I need to make the change on his Jeep) and is experimenting with racing down the sidewalk now.  All the neighbors can’t believe that he is only two.  He’s got some mad piloting skills.

I would kill to be this flexible...

Now that Gabs is doing gymnastics, she spends more time doing handstands than she does being upright.  If she isn’t doing handstands, she is doing the splits.  She loves to look at the expression of my face while she slides down in the middle splits.  I couldn’t resist this shot.  She decided to do the splits against the door.

Madison's Fingernails

Madison’s Fingernails

Madison and her friend, Kacie, had a blast bedazzling their fingernails.  She is always doing stuff like that.  She will have to have her own boutique when she is older.

New Vacuum

We got a new vacuum from Costco the other day (love/hate that store)and Gabrielle had to do her thing to the box.  I don’t know what it is with that child, but she manages to take ordinary days, things, events, whatever and tweak it so it is silly, happy, or some way of having fun and laughing.  She just has a knack for making the ordinary extraordinary.  My life and our family are blessed to have her fun personality to liven things up.

Drake's Family Party

I was on reserve with Southwest beginning on the 29th for a three day block.  We figured I would have to fly for sure, but I never did.  It made it so we could have another family celebration.  We took Drake to Chuck-E-Cheese and had a great time playing all the games.  Then when we came home, we had a big cupcake we had made for his birthday that we decorated and frosted.  Then we let Drake just pig out.  Getting paid to party with the family is a pretty good gig.

Drake's B-day Party

Heather has been having other kids over as a babysitting co-op.  It’s a great way to trade babysitting with other moms without having to spend a fortune on child care.  Well, Heather just happened to have her babysitting session on the 28th.  She had the great idea of just having all the kids join in a party for Drake.  She got a dump truck and filled it with brownies and put some candles in them for a quick birthday party.  What a sugar rush!!!

Madison's Limo Ride

Madison got invited to a birthday party from a friend from school.  He invited a bunch of boys and girls to go for a ride in a limo to see a bunch of the sights of Las Vegas, then they had a big pizza party.  Needless to say, they had a blast!!!
